Chief Executive Officer
Johar Singh
Johar has previously worked in healthcare product roles at Microsoft Healthcare, UnitedHealth Group and Stryker. Johar is also a listed co-author of multiple internationally published patient-research papers and listed on Boston Business Journal’s 25 Under 25 list. Coming from a family of esteemed physicians, Johar has grown up witnessing the impact of recognition on healthcare workers, leading him to start Astra Wellbeing.

Chief Wellness Officer
Shannon McPeek, RN
Shannon is a registered nurse with experience serving in the neonatal ICU. After experiencing patient deaths, she began to witness burnout firsthand, inspiring her to start her own nonprofit, Operation Happy Nurse, dedicated to supporting healthcare workers. Shannon has become a public figure in the healthcare worker burnout space, leading her to win the L'oreal Paris 2022 Woman of Worth and serve as Astra's Chief Wellness Officer.

Valerie Fleishman
Valerie is the Chief Innovation Officer of the MA Hospital Association (MHA) and a seasoned healthcare executive. Valerie received her MBA from HBS and has been recognized in Boston Business Journal’s "40 Under 40 Rising Stars.” Valerie’s role at the MHA has focused on advancing innovations across MHA’s 70+ hospital members. Valerie helped lead the MHA’s partnership and investment into Astra Wellbeing and now serves on Astra’s advisory board.

John Gobron
John is currently the CEO of SafeDose, a software platform helping clinicians in 500+ hospitals become pediatric-ready for patient emergencies. Prior to SafeDose, John was the CEO at Aventura Software, led Symantec’s $130M Healthcare Vertical, and was the GM of Sentillion, helping facilitate the company’s acquisition by Microsoft. With over 25 years of experience leading healthcare technology from conception to exit, John serves on Astra’s advisory board.

Hasmeena Kathuria, M.D.
Dr. Kathuria is the Director of UW Health’s CTRI, Chair of the ATS, and an esteemed critical care physician. Dr. Kathuria previously directed the Tobacco Treatment Center at Boston Medical Center. Dr. Kathuria is a globally renowned researcher, having published 50+ papers and receiving 25+ awards and honors. Dr. Kathuria credits much of her work to seeing the impact she has on her patients, inspiring her to join Astra’s advisory board.

David Rhew, M.D.
Dr. Rhew is the Global Chief Medical Officer & VP of Microsoft, and Adjunct Professor at Stanford University School of Medicine. Dr. Rhew has advised the WHO, CDC, and US on global healthcare initiatives, holds 6 U.S. patents, and was named one of Modern Healthcare’s 50 Most Influential Clinical Executives. Following Astra’s partnership with Microsoft, Dr. Rhew serves on Astra’s advisory board to support Astra’s technology and AI efforts with Microsoft.
